ENVIRONMENT Frozenland
is a land of constant extreme freezing temperatures. The mountain ranges are
always blanketed with fresh snow, and the icy cold rivers are coated by thin
frozen sheets. Our precipitation may come down as heavily as a massive blizzard
covering all the land, or as delicate as beautiful sculpted snowflakes
trickling to the surface. The air is crisp, and our daylight hours are short.
Our land is covered by rolling hills and striking mountain ranges and is
covered with lots of tall trees and full of wildlife.
CULTURAL KNOWLEDGE
Norms
Typical life expectations of humans are much different than
those of the Olaf tribe. There is no common school or division of learning. Olaf’s
are created, not birthed, and can live to 200 years of age. They are taught
over time by their creators, or parents. There are two genders, Olaf’s (males)
and olaves (females). In Olaf culture, there are 10 days in a week. Because of
the unbalanced female to male ratio 10:1, Olaf’s practice polygamy and males
are encourage to have up to 10 wives, one for each day of the week. Olaf’s have
carrot noses, and they help to determine age. Younger Olaf’s will have baby
carrot noses, and the older, more mature Olaf’s will have full carrots. The
olafs do not wear clothes and are not materialistic people.
Values
The Olafs have three main values. Friendship, individuality,
and honesty. Friendship to the olafs is extremely important as it is entirely
what their tribe was created upon. Queen elsa and the first olaf of the tribe
created the entire olaf culture upon the basis of a strong bond of friendship.
Friendship holds great importance to the olafs because it creates an
environment of kind spirits and friendly souls. The olafs also value
individuality. Olafs recognize that it is our differences are what not only
separate us but also what bring us all together. We embrace individuality and
encourage every olaf to be unique in their own way. Individuality is especially
important because our Queen Elsa struggled with accepting her differences as a
child. Because of this olafs specifically love to embrace individuality. Above
all things, the olafs values honesty. Honesty is expected 100% of the time, and
if an individual is caught lying they are certain to be punished as severely as
death.
Worldview
Olafs know that warmth, though they have never experienced
it, is a dangerous thing. They must remain in the cold because warmth can
actually kill them. They believe in reincarnation, and that with good deeds,
honesty, and establishing strong friendships can lead to becoming human after
death. They are always working towards becoming human so that they can live in
the world that Queen Elsa’s people come from.
Symbols
The two hands are a symbol for trade, or bartering.
The olafs do not have a capitalist type of market. They do not have a type of
currency or bank and they do not sell items. Because of this, Olafs will trade
goods and services for other goods and services. For example, one olaf may
trade a woven basket for blocks of ice, or perhaps trade several baskets for an
individual to build their igloo. The bartering system is a symbol to the olaf
tribe because it is based on tradition. There is no type of of money
whatsoever, and all transactions must be a mutual benefit trade.
Flowers blossoming from the snow is a symbol of honesty.
Whether it is a photo of the flowers forming from the snow or the actual
instance, the gesture alone is a symbol for being truthful to all of the
community. Secrets are highly discouraged; essentially forbidden, and if an
olaf is caught lying they can receive a punishment as severe as death or exile.
The olafs take great pride in their honestly and selflessness and highly
discourage that any olaf should ever partake in lying, cheating, or deceiving.
As a gesture or symbol of selflessness, olafs will remove
their heads and raise them into the sky as a sign of an offering to their god
and queen, Elsa. This is a gesture specifically associated with their religion
and is only used during worship. If this symbol is seen, other olafs will
follow in ones lead by participating in the act. There is no specific time or
day for worship, the olafs simply worship when they please, which is rather
frequent, up to 11 times a day, for 5 to 15 minutes at a time. The olafs will
lift their heads and praise and sing in unison.

Queen Elsa is the supreme leader and their God. Although she
is the queen, it is generally a very democratic government that encourages
suggestions and votes from the community. All new rules and ideas are shared at
the ice castle, where all the olafs meet for discussions of law and to vote.
Olafs face their demise at approximately 200 years of age.
They deteriorate and melt when they die, and are not given any type of memorial
service. When they die, it is believe that they are instantly reincarnated as a
human in Arendelle, the village from which Queen Elsa comes from. Marriage is
expected to be between one olaf and ten olaves, because of the unbalanced olaf
to olave ratio. Because olafs are more so focused on selflessness and kindness,
the marriages are more so based around friendship rather than romance. Plants
to the olafs are most commonly very tall trees with the exception of a few
small shrubs and the occasional flowers that survive the cold. The snow covered
world they live in only receives about 6 hours of sunlight everyday, which they
believe is a gift from Queen Elsa. Because of this they must do their work very
quickly. They have constant cloud cover and have never directly seen the sun or
directly felt its heat.
Demographics – The olafs do not have a social ladder
of wealth, however, their status is determined by their bartering skills as a
whole. Older olafs who are better and more skilled with bartering are given
more respect from the community and are often given helpful leadership
positions in the ice castle.
Cultural Emphasis
A main area of cultural emphasis in the olaf tribe is snowfall.

terms for it, such as

3.
